What is new in CodeBeamer 7.2?

IT Demand Management

Without the proper demand management tool, the communication gap between “Demand Management” and IT departments is significant. codebeamer 7.2 has a new set of functions to support demand management issues. Demand Management features allow for analyst and demand managers to collect ideas and business demands across the organization, provide access for stakeholders along demand evaluation in order to prioritize demand and create an approved ranking list of them. After demand approval all demand records can be transformed to requirements and assigned to project managers to keep tracking on priorities and provide traceability. The entire demand workflow can be visualized and managed on a Kanban board. The Demand Management is a new module in codeBeamer.

Agile Planning Board

The Agile Planning Board of codeBeamer 7.2 enables users to assign items to backlogs and sprints and to move items between sprints by using the drag & drop function. It also allows users to assign work items to project members or teams. Changes to work items can be made without leaving the planning board.

The most important features of the Agile Planning Board:

  • Assign work items (user stories) to users and roles
  • Change priority or business value of work items
  • Add story points to work items
  • Move work items from one sprint or release to another
  • Manage work items across multiple projects and releases

Requirements Management enhancement

  • Basic Doors HTML import
  • MS Word export with incoming and outgoing references
  • Word Round-trip supports templates and custom field export/import

The round-trip of codeBeamer 7.1 has enabled users to export requirements or other issues into a regular Microsoft Word document to share it with stakeholders or present it on meetings. The updated round-trip of codeBeamer 7.2. allows users to customize their own templates and export documents according to their company’s corporate identity standards. Export now includes work item priorities and custom fields that can be changed in the exported document and imported back into codeBeamer. The tracking feature precisely records all changes made in the document and automatically updates them in codeBeamer if the users choose to apply the changes.

Other enhanced features and changes in codeBeamer 7.2

  • Properties can be modified in document view

Previously users could see and modify only 5 properties in the document view and they needed to go in the detailed view to change the other properties. Now, it has changed. Users can add and modify as many properties in the document view as they want which makes allocations much easier.

  • Close, Archive or Delete Projects

The new version of codeBeamer 7.2 gives users more freedom. Users can freely close, archive or delete their projects. If the project is closed the projects will be still visible but read only. If users move the projects into archive it will be visible only to formal administrators but can be restored. Care must be taken since deleted projects will be physically removed.

  • Configuration items (CMDB) are moved under Trackers

Previously CMDB was placed between “Trackers” and “Reports”. With the launch of codeBeamer 7.2 users will find the Configuration items under the “Trackers”.

  • Overlay editing for issues in Planning Board
  • Permanent links on cardboards
  • Main menus expanded by click (not by mouse hover)
  • Trash can restore or delete single items
  • Improvements to Word import (better recognition for tables and formatting)
