What is new in codeBeamer 7.1?

codeBeamer 7.1 is updated with new Release Planning features, and a Kanban board. The new version also has a platform-independent RESTful API to set up interoperability with other tools.

Release Planning with Hierarchical Releases

Release Planning with Hierarchical Release of codeBeamer 7.1 allows users to:

  • Work with Waterfall, V-Process, Scrum, Kanban (all supported)
  • Manage hierarchies of releases and sprints (or sub-releases or iterations) ideally implementing an Agile Release Train
All existing mechanisms in CodeBeamer were updated to support hierarchical releases: from Burn Down Charts, through reporting, filtering to Requirement Coverage Browser.

Kanban Board

The new cardboard interface of codeBeamer 7.1 is a Kanban board, providing users immediate and easy to overview insights on todos, in progress, to verify, and completed tasks.

  • the cardboard view provides control of Work-in-Progress limits in order to identify overloads of your team
  • the cardboard provides several filtering options
  • the Kanban board allows management of work items of multiple projects and can handle different workflows
  • the cardboard allows the users to edit issues/requirements without leaving the cardboard.

RESTful API for Integration

In this version, codeBeamer has a new RESTful API integration feature for easier and seamless interoperability with other tools.

RESTful API users benefit from platform independence. In codeBeamer the RESTful API integration is based on open Web standards (HTTP(s), JSON, JSON Schema, self-describing, no codeBeamer libraries required.)

Other enhanced features

  • codeBeamer 7.1 ensures MS Word import of requirements with comments
  • codeBeamer 7.1 allows mass-copying of requirements from one to an other tracker with their associated informations or suspect links
  • in the new version the trash is available on the toolbar, in order to simplify the access to deleted items (documents, wikipages and repositories) for trash back
  • a new user-friendly project wizard allows users to set-up projects more easily by importing data from MS Word and Excel
  • the new codeBeamer version provides advanced support for audits (compliance check against standards) by tracking changes in roles throughout the whole project lifecycle.
