Upgrade from a previous version

Pre-actions

  • Before starting the upgrade, make sure a backup of the current installation and database is created.
  • Stop the running codebeamer X instances with shutdown.sh from /tomcat/bin/.

Upgrade steps

  1. Follow the Installation steps with the new version's installer file. Install it to a different folder than the previous version.
  2. DO NOT start codebeamer X.
  3. Open the new version's installation folder and its upgrade directory:
    • Windows:
      • Run the upgrade.bat file.
    • Linux:
      • Run the upgrade.sh file.
  4. Confirm that the backup of the database and codebeamer X have been created.
  5. Set installation context to cb (default).
  6. Set the previous codebeamer X version's installation folder.
  7. After the upgrade is finished, the application can be started with the startup.sh file from /tomcat/bin/.
