Wiki - Broken Link Displayed Instead of Image
Description
Suddenly, codebeamer users and editors may notice that, instead of showing the actual image, Wiki or Wikitext fields display a broken image icon and a plain text with a URL next to it:
Observed on
- codebeamer 22.04 (FELICITY)
Solution
Likely, the broken wiki references an image from another resource (Wiki page, Tracker Item) which is no longer reachable. Most common scenarios to be investigated, with possible solutions, are:
- Lack of original resource within the project - for example, the Work Item with the original image has been moved to Trash.
- Solution: Ensure the original resource is reachable again - for example, by restoring it from the Trash.
- If the original Work Item / Wiki page / image can no longer be found in the Trash, get the artifact_id value from the broken link and follow this method to attempt finding it in the file repository: How to access the physical content of an artifact
- Lack of permissions on the original resource for the current user.
- Solution: Ensure the proper rights for the affected user are set on the Wiki page / Work Item where the image is originally present.
Preventive action: When creating a new Wiki that uses images from another codebeamer resource, get those images and re-upload them separately into the new Wiki.
