The problem: you have lots of rich text-content formatted as HTML -including lots of images- somewhere outside of codeBeamer and you want to import that easily and create several Requirements of other items in one go.

Here is how you can do this:

  • First prepare an HTML file which contains all information you want to import. This HTML should contain only one HTML table, where each row will become one Requirement/item in codeBeamer, and each cell can contain HTML formatted text too. If your content contains images then these images should nicely display when you open this HTML file in a web-browser.
  • Next open this HTML in a Microsoft Word: check that all content and images are fine in Word.
  • Next is to tell Word to embed all images: go to File -> Info menu in Word, click on "Edit links to Files" which opens a dialog. Select all images, and click on "Save picture in document". This will make that all images getting embedded to Word.
  • Next save the Word document as ".docx" format.
  • Go to the desired Tracker in codeBeamer where you want the items imported to and start an import. Upload the just saved .docx file and choose "Import Word Table" option. By this we will import the HTML table what is coming from the original HTML.
  • Do the import mapping: map any fields you want to import. Your "Description" field can contain rich text, so the HTML rich text with images can be mapped to here. You can also map&import any other fields as you wish (for example Status, Priority etc...)
  • Finish the import and verify the result. The images and rich text should appear nicely.
