What is new in codeBeamer 7.3?

codeBeamer 7.3 version is here! We made great templates so you can save time and implement best practices!

Similar to downloading smartphone apps, you can import project templates in less than a minute and start your Medical, Scrum, Test-Labs, Agile-Waterfall Hybrid, Demand or Marketing/Sales project with Kanban visualization. For Requirements Engineers and Requirements Managers at companies with large number of requirements, we've added the Re-use and Library Management features to help you achieve a more mature level of requirements engineering. For Test Managers, Test Engineers, and Quality Assurance Managers, Test Parametrization supports the implementation of test runs with many parameters, resulting in greater efficiency and higher code quality. For Demand and Business Unit Managers as well as Analysts, we created a new demand visualization chart that compares demands or risks. We also added new features to capture, rank, and rate ideas in addition to visualize opportunities.

  • Templates for Medical, Scrum, Test, Hybrid, Demand, Test-Lab, Marketing-Sales projects
  • Requirements and Test-Case Re-use with Libraries
  • Test Parameterization
  • Demand Management has now bubble chart visualization and rating
  • UI improvements

New project Templates

codeBeamer Medical ALM Template, our customised template for IEC 62304 compliance, is still available. Please note that codeBeamer Medical ALM Template is provided separately from codeBeamer ALM 7.3.

Templates contain the following features:

  • WIKI with domain knowledge, best practices, tips and examples
  • Customized and pre-configured trackers and workflows
  • Pre-configured release and sprint hierarchy, planning and Kanban board

The benefits of using project templates:

  • Quicker evaluation of uses cases (Agile development, demand management, sales and marketing, and V-Agile hybrid development)
  • Save time and implementation effort, since the majority of customisation work has already been done by Intland Software
  • Easier understanding and internal demonstration of codeBeamer ALM software solution capabilities by use cases.

Requirements Re-use and Library Management

The Requirements Re-use feature enables users to save requirements into the Requirements Libraries and copy single requirements or entire requirements’ folders from one project to another. Changes and modifications are carefully tracked, and the change alerts help keep requirements libraries updated. Test Cases can originate from requirements and therefore the same functionality is available with Test Cases. Tests can be saved in libraries for re-use. The Reuse function helps manage product variants with less effort.

Benefits:

  • Save time and effort through the re-use of already prepared requirements and test cases
  • Manage a large number of requirements/test cases easily (especially useful 1000+ requirements per project)
  • Full traceability on changes of requirements (due to inheritance)

Test Parameterization

Test parameterization, - you can use different parameters for running the same test sets. Manual tests often have to be repeated with different test data and different parameters. Test parameterization is very useful in the case of reusing test cases in different test sets. Parameter table can also be added to runs tests.

How does test parameterization work?

  • You can define test cases with “parameters”
  • You can upload parameters from EXCEL or enter them in the wiki at Test Parameters Tab
  • You can define Test sets by Test Cases with test parameters
  • You can run the same test cases with the given parameters

Benefits

  • Increase code quality
  • Ensures better test maintainability

Bubble Chart Visualization for Demand Management

Demand Management features have been extended with a Bubble Chart visualization option in codeBeamer ALM software solution. But what does the bubble chart show? A bubble chart is used to visualize a data set with two or three dimensions. The bubble size helps to visualize and compare demand according to variables such as costs and risks. Bubble visualization is widely used to identify and manage project risk. The larger the bubble is the more risky or costly the demand is.
