Team Management Overview

Team Management (introduced in version 7.7) is a powerful tool for mapping teams of an organization to codebeamer, and assigning work items to them (even in a cross-project manner).

Assigning work items to teams

Team Management is available in newly created projects. In each project, there is a default Team tracker called Teams. The teams are just the items of this tracker.

There is a new Team field in each work tracker. By default these fields can reference any item from a Team tracker in the project. To assign a work item to a specific team, that team need to be added to the Team field.

Team members

It is possible to assign users to teams directly, on the other hand, team membership is computed automatically because of the following:

  • If a user's work item is assigned to a team, the user automatically becomes the member of that team.
  • This membership ends once the work item is no longer assigned to the team.

The statistics (on planner, on release stats. page) are computed using this rule.

Configuration for existing projects

To use team management in an existing project,

  1. Create a Team tracker to define the necessary teams.
  2. Add a Team field to each tracker to which the various teams can be assigned. Suggested configuration:
Custom Team fields are not supported in Scaled Agile Framework.

Teams on Planner

The Planner can be used to assign items. A new tab has been added to the left panel of planners, showing the team hierarchy of the projects.

  • The issues can be filtered by selecting teams in the list.

  • To assign an issue to a team, drag and drop the item to the appropriate row:
  • Edit the field inline, directly in the table, is also possible:

Teams on Release Dashboard

Team Statistics can be found on the right panel of the Release Stats page. This box summarizes the number of issues assigned to each team, and can also be used for filtering.

  • By clicking on a team in the box, the issues assigned to the team are displayed.

Teams on Cardboard

  • Issues can be grouped and filtered based on teams on Cardboard page as well.
Use the filter bar to select Grouping by Teams and click on [Go].
