Panel Views
This page describes the operation and features of codebeamer's Panel View and Detailed Panel View functions.
Panel Views are available since codebeamer 20.11 (CARMEN) release.
Panel View and Detailed Panel View are extensions of the Table View and the Intelligent Table View. By activating the Panel View, certain properties of the selected item are loaded into a panel at the bottom of of the screen, while using the Detailed Panel View provides more details of the item in the right hand-side panel.
Panel View
Switching on/off Panel Views
The Panel View or the Detailed Panel View can be activated
- either by clicking on Manage Tracker Views View (), and select the relevant checkbox:
- or, by clicking on the floating buttons placed at the bottom and on the right-hand side of the screen:
Panel View
Activating Panel View displays a horizontal panel at the bottom of the page.
- Left side of the panel - clicking on an item loads the item Description into the left side of the panel. The in-place editing of the item Description can be performed by clicking on the icon, while the Summary field is is available for editing after double-clicking on it.
In-place editing is disabled if the user does not have the required permission, or the item is versioned (Baseline mode).Editing an item in Table View and on the panel at the same time is not possible.
- Right side of the panel - shows the Comment & Attachments section of the item. Having the proper permissions, comments can be added, edited of deleted just as on the Tracker Item page.
Detailed Panel View
With the Detailed Panel View enabled, the details of the item selected in Table View are loaded into a vertical panel on the right side of the screen with the following accordions:
- Details - Lists all the visible fields of the item. In-place edit is available by double-clicking on the field values. Concurrent editing is not possible.
- Description - Shows the description of the item.
- References - Upstream / Downstream references of the item, if any.
- Associations - Associations of the item, if any.
- Comments - Comments and attachments for the item. Having the proper permissions, comments and attachments can be added, edited or deleted.
Other features
Panel View settings
- are stored when saving new views;
- are applied when using the shareable URL function;
- remain active after navigating away from the selected artifact, and going back to it;
- are kept when using the Resizable Columns function (percentages, pixels);
- can also be used in Intelligent Table View.
Restrictions
- The panel positions cannot be changed.
- The contents of the panels are not configurable.
Resizing the panels of Panel View and Detailed Panel View
Since codebeamer 22.04 (FELICITY) release, the Panel View and Detailed Panel View layouts are resizable.
Having the Panel View or the Detailed Panel View activated, the size of the layouts can be changed.
Hovering the mouse cursor over the separator lines of the panels, the object resizing cursor is displayed (↔) and the size of the layouts can be adjusted by dragging.
Resizable Panel View
- Both the height and the width of the displayed Description and Comments & Attachments sections can be adjusted in Panel View:
- Reaching the minimum or maximum width of the Description or Comments & Attachments sections in Panel View is indicated by the vertical separator line turning red:
Resizable Detailed Panel View
- The width of the Detailed Panel View layout is adjustable in the same way:
- This layout also has a maximum and minimum width indicated by the adjustable separator line turning red:
Both the Panel View and the Detailed Panel View layouts can be closed
- either by clicking on the floating [Close] button
- or, by double-clicking on the adjustable separator
Further features
- Custom Resizable Panel View or Detailed Panel View layout size settings can be saved in new or existing Views.
When saving a View with one of the Panel View layouts enabled, codebeamer stores the momentary width and/or height value of the layout applied. If a saved Panel View layout is resized, the icon and a notification is shown on the top right when hovering the cursor over the icon:
- Panel size adjustments are stored when using Shareable links
- Navigating away, then navigating back to Table View, the panel is restored to its default size.
