High availability / OpenShift deployment
High availability is very important for mission critical applications to ensure effective functioning of the production environment even if an application server fails. That is supported based on optimised Docker images deployed by OpenShift.
OpenID (OAuth2) Authentication support
Starting with release 9.3, codeBeamer also supports Single Sign-On via MITREid Connect, a certified OpenID Connect reference implementation in Java on the Spring platform by the MIT Internet Trust Consortium.
OpenID Connect is a simple identity layer on top of the OAuth2 protocol, that allows codeBeamer to verify the identity of the End-User based on the authentication performed by an Authorization Server, as well as to obtain basic profile information about the End-User.
Production ready Docker images
codeBeamer 9.3.0 is now also shipped as production ready Docker images, please find us in Docker repository.
Dynamic Word Reporting templates
To help reporting on your Agile processes, we have added a new burn-up chart plugin and widget. Weekends and predefined holidays are now omitted from the calculation, making sure your charts are accurate. Report re-usability is another handy new feature: using it, you can simply include existing reports into a new report, saving you tons of time in the stress of reporting to management.
codeBeamer ALM 9.3 also brings an update to our MS Word export templates. We have completely overhauled this feature using Mail Merge Word placeholders, making it easier for you to customize your export templates to facilitate the creation of reports according to your needs.
Integrations
Leveraging the system’s open architecture, codeBeamer ALM 9.3 brings important new native integrations:
Its integration with IBM’s Rational Publishing Engine supports the generation of docs/PDF files. A new BitBucket integration supports those looking to use an external and self-hosted source control management system. And through OpenShift, you can take container management to a new level.
New API - Swagger
Starting with codeBeamer 9.3.0 popular Swagger API is available.
Work Item Connectivity updates
Updates to our tracker system will greatly benefit advanced users of codeBeamer ALM. With bidirectional suspected change references, you will be notified about changes in both upstream and downstream references to a specific item. Additionally, the suspected change events are also configurable for each field.
In 9.3, we have also introduced Recursive Tracker Field Dependency Check. By listing and checking the items associated to any artifact, this feature gives you a notification about those associated items that are still open and can be changed. So unlike suspected changes which only notifies you of already changed items, this feature lets you know which items can potentially be changed in the future since they're still open. This helps a great deal when you're looking to finalize a requirement. Knowing what downstream references may still affect that requirement, you can make sure those associated items are closed as soon as possible, letting you finalize and move on with your requirement.
Additionally, significant improvements were made to Dependent reference field handling and usability.
Approval Management
codeBeamer’s approval management just got smarter with version 9.3. Electronic signatures can be easily made mandatory, and embedded into workflows. You can also require a certain minimum number of signatures. By making sure that all the adequate team members approve of changes, you (and your auditors) can rest assured that your processes are fully controlled.
Speaking of audits, the new Review History view provides complete transparency and full visibility into your approval processes. To facilitate reporting, we’ve also added a new Show Review Results plugin and widget.
Agile Planner
Agile teams will be happy to learn about a host of updates and new features, as well as performance improvements in the Agile capabilities of codeBeamer ALM 9.3. The Agile Planner now offers multi-select to facilitate mass work item management. You can now easily pick multiple items and move or reassign them at once.
There's also a new workflow action to support your release management activities. This new feature cleans up your open sprints based on your settings. For example, items that are still in progress will be automatically moved to the next sprint, while items that are open but not yet in progress can be moved back to the backlog. You can easily and flexibly configure all these actions to save a great deal of time in managing Agile releases.
codeBeamer 9.3.0 contains several Performance improvements across the application reducing the CPU usage both on the codeBeamer Server and Database layer side.
There are also a few treats for system administrators in this latest version of codeBeamer ALM. In terms of security, we have fixed vulnerabilities and have made efforts to prevent hack attempts of your SysAdmin pages. Our default Tomcat server SSL configurations also just became stricter: in the future, we will only support secure TLS1.1 and TLS1.2 standards.
New updates facilitate system performance monitoring. We have improved the Server Status Dashboard, enabling you to export and download data. The dashboard now shows a variety of new activities including restarts, GC memory and CPU usage, current and maximum system memory, as well as a history of executed commands and LDAP logins.
Usability improvements
User preferences features have been added, including the "Open link in new tab".
Report and Tracker View usage is much more easy to use than before and now filter modifications can be executed on-the-fly.
Advanced Report Layout rendering features added with Resizable Columns and configurable Downstream / Upstream fields.
