Create an Intelligent Table View

To create an Intelligent Table View for a tracker, a public or private view for the tracker must be created first. The Intelligent Table View function does not support the Group by option. Thus, the original view that is used to create an Intelligent Table View cannot include the grouping of items.

To create an Intelligent Table View for a tracker, do the following:

  1. Select a tracker from the trackers menu and go to Table View.
  2. Open the view configuration window and select Save as to create an Intelligent Table View.
  3. Set the Name, and optionally the Description and Permissions fields. Selecting the Public View check box is required.
  4. Click [Save].
  5. Open the view configuration window.
  6. Select the new view and click Intelligent Table View Configuration.

  7. Select a rendering method for the Intelligent Table View.

The following values are available in this field:
    • Disabled (Use Basic Table View): if this option is selected instead of an Intelligent Table View, a basic Table View will be created.
    • Traceability Tree View: if this option is selected, a Traceability Tree View will be created. For more information, see Traceability Tree View section.
    • Hierarchical Table View: if this option is selected, a Hierarchical Table View will be created. For more information, see Hierarchical Table View section.
  8. Specify the field settings for the initial tracker level.

The initial level is always the current tracker, which cannot be modified.
By default, the list in the Field Settings field contains all the fields that are included in the current tracker view. To remove any of the fields from the initial level of the new Intelligent Table View, click the icon next to the field. To move a field, use the drag and drop function. To include a new field in the view, click Add Field and select a field from the drop-down list.
From codebeamer 10.1, it is possible to use shared fields. For more information, see Reports.
  9. Click Add Filter to create level one filters.

This specifies the tracker from which to add upstream or downstream references to the Intelligent Table View.
  10. Specify whether the references from the selected tracker are upstream or downstream references.
  11. Specify the Field Settings for the level one references as for the initial level in Step 7. From codebeamer 10.1, it is possible to use shared fields. For more information, see Reports.
  12. Click Add in the Level 2 field and repeat Steps 9 and 10 add level two references to the view.
If necessary, you can configure further levels of references for the Intelligent Table View. By default, the maximum number of levels is five. For configuration, see Application configuration.
It is possible to add any number of reference levels to an Intelligent Table View. However, if too many levels are configured, managing your view might become difficult.
  13. Click [Save].
  14. Set the visibility of the child and parent items using the Show Children, Show Ancestor Items, and Show Descendant Items check boxes.

Both Show Ancestor Items and Show Descendant Items turn on a parent-children hierarchy view. Show Ancestor Items shows ancestors even if they are not part of the result. Show Descendant Items shows descendants even if they are not part of the result.
